Email updates

If you sign up, we store your email address, optional first name, signup date, consent wording and subscription status in a private Google Sheet. Google Apps Script processes your submission. We use this information to send occasional Relative Rewind channel updates. The form checks email formatting but does not verify ownership of the inbox. It does not automatically send an email.

We keep your subscription information while you remain subscribed or until you request deletion. If you unsubscribe, we retain a minimal suppression record so your address is not accidentally added again. We do not sell your signup information or send names and email addresses to Google Analytics.

Optional website analytics

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to measure page visits, link clicks and signup form interactions, including completed submissions. Google processes information such as browser and device details, referral sources, approximate location and cookie identifiers. These statistics help us understand which content people use. A recorded signup submission does not verify email ownership or guarantee a new subscriber.

The Google Analytics tag loads only after you accept analytics cookies. Rejecting analytics leaves this tracking off and does not prevent you from watching content or signing up. We disable Google signals and advertising personalization in our website tag. We do not send signup field contents to Analytics.

Google's handling of this data is explained in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and its Privacy Policy. Google may process information on servers outside your country. Analytics event data is retained according to our Google Analytics property settings; aggregated reports can remain available longer.

Cookies and browser preferences

We remember your analytics choice in this browser for six months. If you accept, Analytics cookies are configured with a six-month lifetime that can renew during use. You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings. Withdrawing consent stops future Analytics collection on this website and clears accessible Analytics cookies; it does not automatically erase previously collected statistics.

We also store local preferences to give you a seven-day break after closing the signup popup and to stop automatically showing it after a completed signup. These preferences contain no email address or name. They apply only to this browser and can be removed by clearing site data.

Embedded services and external links

Our website uses an embedded YouTube video, Google Fonts and a Google-hosted signup form. These services receive connection information when their content loads. The signup form loads when its popup opens. The analytics choice controls Google Analytics specifically, not these separate services. Following a link to YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram or X takes you to a service governed by its own privacy policy.

Your choices

You can use the website without optional analytics or an email subscription. To stop channel emails, reply asking to unsubscribe or contact us at the address above. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the signup information you provided. We may need to confirm control of the email address before fulfilling a request.
